The National Center for Housing Management (NCHM) was founded in 1972 by Presidential Executive Order #11668. We take our role as the only private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) training and education organization in the housing industry with a great sense of pride and responsibility. Our mission, vision, and values statements reflect this sense of duty in our commitment to our customers in the field of housing.

Mission Statement

The National Center for Housing Management's mission is taken directly from our constituting document. NCHM's mission is "to provide objective and independent leadership at the national level in helping meet the Nation's housing management and training needs…" (Presidential Executive Order 11668, signed April 21, 1972).

NCHM's bold and innovative strides toward this organizational mission can be experienced most directly in the development of comprehensive training and certification programs. NCHM's management improvement services, ranging from compliance and performance education to technical support and consulting, provide housing industry organizations with the very independent leadership and support NCHM was called upon to provide three decades ago.

Vision Statement

Our vision for the future is one in which the housing industry of the United States is marked by excellence at all levels of management. At the core of this vision is the belief that the housing industry maintains one of the most fundamental resources in our society: shelter. We believe that the long term strategic development and maintenance of this resource cannot be successful unless all housing professionals are held to a level of excellence and accountability through education and certification requirements. Only the National Center for Housing Management, as the independent leader of the housing industry since 1972, has the resources and will to make this vision a reality.

Values Statement

The National Center for Housing Management's core corporate value rests in protecting the interests of our clients who rely upon our timely and accurate dissemination and analysis of housing-related information.

We value a perfectionist determination in everything we do, accepting nothing short of excellence in our best efforts to put forth comprehensive and comprehensible information. We are aware that our clients, both individuals and organizations, put their faith in our products and services. We are aware that many management organizations make significant financial investments in the education of their staff members. We are determined to turn that investment into the highest rate of return possible by protecting them from the costly lawsuits that result from noncompliance, and the costly errors that result from ill-trained staff. NCHM will provide the highest quality products and services possible toward this end.
