Certified Voucher Specialist

Occupancy Training in the New Housing Choice Voucher Program

CVS - More Important Than Ever!

The Housing Choice Voucher program has undergone many changes since its inauguration in 1984. Initially created as two distinct housing assistance programs, Vouchers and Certificates, Congress has acted to consolidate the two programs into one. This program is now the largest assisted housing program administered by HUD. The Housing Choice Voucher Program has grown in size while all other HUD housing programs have decreased. There has never been a better time to get trained!

Don't Get Caught in the Past - The Future is Here with CVS!

The National Center for Housing Management (NCHM), the nation's leading training and certification organization for the federally assisted housing management industry, is proud to announce its new program on tenant-based Section 8 housing programs: Certified Voucher Specialist (CVS).

Certified Voucher Specialist (CVS) is an occupancy specialist program in the tradition of our Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) and Tax Credit Specialist (TCS) programs. The program is designed to help organizations and individuals involved with the Housing Choice Voucher Program to understand the fundamental requirements of the program and what the program means for administrators and occupancy specialists. HUD Handbook 7420.10G, the latest HUD regulatory guide released in June 2001 and HUD Form 50058 are the guides for students through this course. The program will be beneficial for Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), owners and managers of Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credit properties, and private owners who have or are considering having residents with vouchers at their properties.
