By Wendy A. Burke, Chair
I am honored to announce that the Board of Directors of the National Center for Housing Management recently elected me to replace my father, John J. Burke, Jr., as Chair. My father served as chairman from 1981, when together with Roger Stevens, Jr., Joan Howell, and Paul Votto he resurrected "the Center" from an uncertain financial future and put it on the path to stability. It is not an exaggeration to say that without my father's perseverance and vision there would be no Center today. I am truly humbled to follow in his footsteps.
I am also thrilled to announce that Paul Votto has been appointed as President of the organization. I have known and worked with Paul for more than thirty years, and have always valued his judgment, philosophy and approach. I do not know a more dedicated and talented housing professional. I know Paul will do an outstanding job leading NCHM into a bright future, and I'm anxious for him to get started!
I sincerely believe that the best days of NCHM are ahead of it and we will remain as committed as ever to the mission established for us by the President of the United States in 1972 to "provide objective and independent leadership at the national level in helping meet the Nation's housing management and training needs."
