On November 16, 2016, HUD published the Final Rule on the Implementation of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013. This rule became effective on December 16, 2016 and requires that all covered HUD housing programs implement new policies, procedures, and forms to ensure that individuals are not denied assistance, evicted, or have their assistance terminated due to their status as victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
We invite you to join Lisa Vercauteren, NCHM's Vice President of Housing, as she reviews the scope and impact of this important new rule.
Areas of discussion will include:
The history of the VAWA legislation
Which programs are impacted
Acceptable verification of victim status
Necessary updates to Tenant Selection Plans, Application Packets, Recertification Processes, and Termination Procedures
The development of a mandatory Emergency Transfer Plan (required by June 14, 2017)
