Setting the standard for Voucher training and insight, NCHM’s Certified Voucher Specialist (CVS) certification gets you up-to-speed on two complex programs.
Comprehensive HUD Voucher training, for newcomers and seasoned professionals
Certified Voucher Specialist (CVS) provides comprehensive occupancy training for the HUD Housing Choice and Project-Based Voucher programs.
CVS was initially designed to orientate newcomers to the voucher programs, but our curriculum has evolved so that even the most seasoned professional leaves with greater knowledge about the calculations and requirements associated with both the Housing Choice and Project-Based Voucher programs. Additionally, property owners who are interested in participating in the voucher programs can learn all the core occupancy requirements and functions so they can make informed decisions before and during their participation.
Please note: CVS is available both online and in the classroom. In either case, the certification exam is completed online. Students have one week following completion of the class to take the online exam.
What you’ll learn:
Income, asset, and adjusted income calculations
Program-based rent calculations
Verification and eligibility requirements
Annual and interim reexamination requirements
Applicable Civil Rights and Fair Housing obligations
How you’ll learn:
The CVS course material incorporates HUD Handbook 7420.10G and numerous other HUD Rules, Notices and Memos containing updated occupancy guidance for the programs.
Instruction is delivered through lecture and an integrated multimedia presentation. Extensive course materials, coordinated with the presentation, facilitate participants’ preparation for the online certification examination. Strong emphasis is placed on learning how to use the federal regulatory guidance materials for future success in managing the voucher programs.
